Femininity is a tricky concept to nail down. Certainly it includes the quality of being female, but that’s about the only definition universally accepted. No human qualities, except biological sex characteristics, are exclusively feminine. When specific attributes beyond those enter the discussion, it often becomes riddled with clichés and increasingly inaccurate stereotypes. Attempting to prescribe femininity, instead of simply observing and describing it, too often leaves us with a two-dimensional construction.
